About the Langley Hospice Society (langleyhospice.com)

For more than thirty-five years, the Langley Hospice Society has been committed to providing quality palliative and bereavement care and support to our growing community, and with diverse but limited funding sources, we fundraise annually to be able to continue to these client-centred programs and services and to ensure these offerings remain free of charge for those who need them.

The Society operates from our Supportive Programs Centre in Langley, BC. There, our staff and volunteers provide anticipatory, early and ongoing bereavement support programs for children, teens, adults and families, who have experienced the death of a significant person in their lives. Ensuring access to support, programs and services, remain FREE of charge...

In addition to palliative care and support, through the hospice residence, and in the community, the Langley Hospice Society develops and delivers programs that are client-centred and responsive and that include:
one-to one support, and age-appropriate loss support groups for children, teens, adults and families; our Supportive Steps Walking Group for Bereaved Adults; a Child/Infant Loss Support Group, a Traumatic Loss Support Group for Parents who've lost an adult child to suicide or substance use; Coffee Groups; Widows Groups, Cooking Together, as well as seasonal day camps and summer camp programs for grieving children and teens, and much more.

Permit restrictions with the Township of Langley has made staggered starts mandatory for all races over 200-300 participants. The staggered start system is to help lower the impact on the surrounding community. Please help by understanding this restriction and following the below details.

Please pay close attention to race day announcements
Half Marathon Starts (9am & 9:05am and possibly an 9:10am start depending on race day attendance) starting from 9am we will have our first group of 200 elite and quick recreation runners start, from there we will start the next 200 runners 5 minutes apart until we finish the group from fastest to slowest.

10K & 5K Please do not start with the Half Marathoners. 5K or 10K walkers/runners leaving with the Half Marathon Runners will be disqualified from the race and you will be directed on the wrong route which will create a challenging race day experience and confusion on route! Important race day details brought forward from the Township of Langley

This is the most important aspect that will affect you during the race:

Requirement that event participants deviating from marked course and event areas be disqualified from the event.

This means we have to have extra marshals on course that will be writing down bib numbers of participants running or walking outside the marked course. (cones) The first aspect of the course that we will be disqualifying people is around the 1K. This is the point participants are running down Hudson Bay's St. and crossing onto the South side of 88th. Participants have to cross and stay in the South lane of 88th and if you cut the corner and run in/on the North side of 88th your race will be over before you get 1.5K into the race!

The course will be well marked and marshaled BUT you will need to follow the course and listen to the marshals. Even if you have to pass you need to pass within the marked course.
